So I'm not the most reliable person when it comes to knowing how to get around Nashville.....Similar to the Opryland Hotel, you just shouldn't ask me how to get anywhere. We created a Mardi Gras themed Reception at the Opryland Springs Golf Club. Our couple had flown to NYC the week prior to be legally married. This was AMA's first time working with a gay couple and boy did we have a blast. The couple wanted to host a Reception in their home town of Nashville for family and friends to celebrate with them. They wanted it to be more of a party rather than a "wedding reception," hence the Mardi Gras theme. The florist's sister had suffered a heart attack the day of the reception and had to go out of town. This meant Jen and I had to collect all of the centerpieces from her house. The florist house ended up being right across the Cumberland River from Opryland where we were. However, we ended up driving for 45 minutes in rush hour traffic; all the way to NNashville. By the time finally reached the florists house we had 10 minutes before the reception was suppose to start.......In a Huge rush, Jen and I frantically raced back to the Golf Club and with a little help from our Catering Manager Maureen we got everything set up just in time. It was one of the guys Birthday, so instead of a wedding cake they had 3 cakes with "Happy Birthday" written on them. The men and their families had a blast and danced the evening away to songs like YMCA, Barbie girl, and Catwalk. HAPPY MARDI GRAS!!!!
